Minutes of HCR Club Meeting

February 5th 2004 Yakima Athletic Club

Eric called the meeting to order at 7:00P.M.

Members present: Bob and Lenore Dolphin, Terry Cliett, Frank and Pam Covelli, Kenn Zahn, Bill Nicholson, Eric Anderson, Larry McCaw, Frank Purdy, Janis and Jack Carlton.

The minutes were approved as printed on the web site because the Secretary was late. Hmmm might be a plan.

Treasures’s report: All bills paid through Jan. 31st. All accounts are in good shape.

Membership report: Bill gave the report as Virginia was absent. Total membership stands at 173.

Newsletter: Frank was enjoying his dinner too much to really comment but it sounded like "a work in progress, and that it would be out after the first of the month". There was some discussion about weather to have the newsletter monthly or bi-monthly. The newsletter is one of our biggest expenses and cutting back could be a real money saver. It was decided to try and keep it to 8 pages for now and see how that works out. The issue may be discussed at a later date.

Club runs: Runs are set through June. Check the calendar. Starting May 4th we will go back to evening runs.

New Business: Frosty 4. Larry said things are looking good. He has lots of volunteers lined up.

Tony is doing a little pre-work on the Clear Lake runs. We still need a race director(s). The races are June 13th. Eric is taking the reigns and pushing hard for club members to step up and volunteer as race directors, volunteers, etc.

The make-up of the Executive Board was discussed. The board now consist of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. We discussed adding other positions to the board but it may take a vote of the membership.

Old Business: Winter Race Series. Terry said "It’s over". Kenn was already suggestion dates for next year to Terry. Placing a few more "runners ahead" signs was discussed. Also we are looking at ways to speed up the final results. Terry mentioned the possibility of adding a 5th non scoring race. The last race would be for fun only. Pizza, results and awards would immediately follow. Let us know if you have any comments about this.

Eric commended Terry and Frank for taking on the job of race directors for the WRS. He presented them , Bill and Virginia Nicholson with gift certificates of appreciation. Terry handed out volunteer award plaques and trophy’s for consistent volunteers.

YRCM report: There was some confusion on the marathon report. Wires were crossed and time wasn’t put on the agenda for it. Lenore said it would be given at the next marathon. Things did quiet down then so she did give an abbreviated report.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 P.M. Respectfully submitted, Jack Carlton
