Minutes of the HCR Club Meeting

May 4th, 2006

Yakima Athletic Club

Members present: Eric Anderson, Barry James, Elisabeth Tscuch, Kenn and Jean Zahn, Jean Flores, Bill and Virginia Nicholson, Tony Sagare, Pat and Karen Miller, Larry McCaw, Frank Purdy, Jack and Janis Carlton and guest Damon Roberts of the Chinook Cycling Club.

Damon was present to enlist help for the upcoming Toppenish Time Trials which is put on by the cycling club. The event is Saturday June 17th and will run from about 10:00 A.M. until about 1:00 P.M. He said the volunteers would be needed from about 9 A.M. to direct racers, slow traffic, monitor intersections and man the turnaround. He received a commitment from Eric and others expressed interest.

Tony then brought up the subject of his stepping down as treasurer. He had been thinking about possible replacements and remembered that Jean Flores had once expressed an interest. Jean was at the meeting and willing. Tony made the nomination and it was seconded. It then unanimously passed. Jean will have until November to transition.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and accepted.

Treasurerís report: Tony said there wasnít much activity for the month. He did have to transfer money from savings to checking to increase cash flow and get things going for Clear Lake. We have 2 entries to date.

Membership: One new member for the month. Total stands at 199.

Newsletter: April is out and the May issue is ready to be mailed. Frank cranked that second one out so quick that the secretary neglected to get the April minutes in. They will be in the next newsletter. Running reminders for May are a work in progress.

Social runs: One on tap for May 7th. Pat will keep organizing the long runs. Sunday May 21 Pat is planning a long run on the Round Mountain course.

New Business: Lots of local runs. Check the calendar.

Eric handed out the equipment rental schedule to enlist volunteers to take the equipment to events. The clock rentals are quite important to the clubs livelihood.

Clear Lake entries will be in the next newsletter.

Frank said that the Three Rivers running club has decided to eliminate their newsletter and go to a total online format. Thank goodness Frank doesnít think this is such a good idea.

Old business: Kenn gave a scholarship update. We have 9 applications so far.

The new batteries for the clock should be here soon. We also may need to buy a timer for the charger. Meeting adjourned 8:07 P.M. Respectfully submitted, Jack Carlton
