Minutes of HCR Club Meeting

May 6th, 2004 - Yakima Athletic Club

Eric called the meeting to order at 7:03 P.M. Members present: Frank and Pam Covelli, Virginia and Bill Nicholson, Kenn Zahn, Eric Anderson, Richard O’Brien, Lenore and Bob Dolphin, Tony Sagare, Larry McCaw, Jack Carlton and guest Arlene Spring.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and accepted.

Treasurer’s report: Tony did not have the full printed report but said the major expenses for the month were for the mailing and printing of the newsletter. He also has a recap on the sale of extra running gear and said that Larry was doing a good job of moving the inventory. Tony noted that it is important that the club try to be involved in local runs so that we can get some rental income. We are not now receiving continuing income from membership renewals.

Membership report: Two new members were added in April and one member renewed. Total membership stands at 191.

Newsletter report: Tony said the new newsletter was at the printers as of May 5th and should be out soon. It will have the marathon results and Clear Lake entries will be enclosed.

Fun runs: The last club run was a good one with a pretty good turnout. Runs are set through July and possibly at the Kloster’s cabin the first run in August.

New business: Richard O’Brien was in attendance promoting the Spring Foundation Run. It is Sunday May 16th at 1:00 P.M. and will be a new course this year. Race info also went out with Eric’s running reminders. Richard said he needed the small clock and a couple of timers.

Negotiations are currently going on between AARC and the RRCA running clubs concerning a merger. There is currently a task force trying to come to an agreement.

Old business: Clear Lake Memorial runs. Eric has started some work on the shirts. Volunteers are being rounded up for the aid stations. Eric has contacted the Forest Service. We are going to be able to get by with just having a couple of garbage cans but we still have to have a porta potty. Eric checked into it and said is sounds like we can do it at a reasonable cost. Eric had asked several times during the meeting if anyone wanted to be race director but getting no positive responses finally said that he would in fact be the race director.

It was brought up that we need a volunteer to take the clock to Cle Elum for the 4th of July run.

YRCM report: The follow up meeting to the marathon was well attended and fruitful. Eric thanked Bob and Lenore for putting on an excellent run and presented them with a plaque of recognition and appreciation. I understood Lenore to say that Dick Beardsley will be at next years race. Don’t know if the contract has been signed though.

Meeting adjourned, 8:01 P.M. Respectfully submitted, Jack Carlton
