Minutes of the HCR Club Meeting

July 1st 2004 Yakima Athletic Club

Eric called the meeting to order at 7:04 P.M. Members present: Eric Anderson, Bill Nicholson, Virginia Nicholson, Stan Helmka, Bob Dolphin, Lenore Dolphin, Tony Sagare, Jeff Hagen, Frank Covelli, Pam Covelli, Larry McCaw, Lorrie Smith, Frank Purdy, Mike Pratt, Janis Carlton, and Jack Carlton.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and accepted.

Treasurerís report: Tony said all major expenses for the month were from the Clear Lake Runs. We had about $100.00 income for the month. Tony also gave a separate report on Clear Lake. Unfortunately it was not a successful run financially. We lost about $300.00 due to the numbers being down somewhat, and some extra expenses. M. S. I. Construction was a race sponsor, but because they were not recognized properly as a sponsor, Tony opted not to accept their sponsorship money. It was a good run though. The weather turned out to be great for running, everyone seemed to have a good time, and Eric did a fine job running the show.

Membership: 2 new members were added in June and total membership stands at 195.

Newsletter: It "will be" a work in progress. The July issue will be out a little later after the Runner Stumbles and the Kiutus Jim runs. Ericís July running reminders were e-mailed on June 28th and the web site was updated on June 26th.

Club runs: tony volunteered to send out a post card to all members reminding them of the Aug. 1st annual mountain fun run at the Klosters.

New Business: YRCM up-date. Hereís a little more marathon trivia. 21 States, Canada, U.K. and Austria were represented in the last race. There were thirty-two 100+ marathoners totaling over 6127 marathons ran. 39 people have run all 4 of our marathons and we had 73, 73, 83, 83 first time marathoners in the first four races. The trophyís have been updated and are on display at the Selah Civic Center. Flyers are being distributed until the registration forms come out. Dick Beardslee is scheduled to be here. Bob and Lenore set up a booth at the Port Angeles marathon promoting our run. We made about $1000.00 on this years race.

Lorrie Smith the new race director of the Sun City Races was introduced. She is the event coordinator for the Yakima Greenway. Lorrie has already met with Mike and will get lots of help from the club. Mike Pratt stopped in to request the small clock and time machine for the kids mini triathelon at the Athletic Club. He also seemed pretty pleased that he really is the ex-director of the Sun City Races.

Having a training day on the race equipment was discussed. It was decided to have it September 9th, 6:30 P.M. at Franklin Park. We want to get as many members there as possible to get acquainted with the timing equipment.

Old Business: Eric confirmed that the number of entrants was down this year for the Clear Lake Runs. He thanked Frank Purdy, Tony, Jim Kloster and all the volunteers for their help this year. Bob and Lenore suggested we check with our insurance company as to weather we are insured for baby joggers. Tony said that one of the organizers of the Kiutus Jim Run, Robert Jim, entered the Clear Lake run, joined the club, and made a substantial donation to the club which was designated to be place in our newly established scholarship fund.

Meeting adjourned, 8:10 P.M. Respectfully submitted, Jack Carlton
