Yakima Athletic Club

Eric called the meeting to order at 7:05 P.M. Members present: Eric Anderson, Jeff Hemp, Bill and Virginia Nicholson, Pat Miller, Lorrie Smith, Eric Anderson Ken and Jean Zahn, Tony Sagare, Ron Urlacher and daughter Audrey, Jean Flores, Frank Purdy, HCR scholarship winner Joe Darda and his parents Dave and Pat.

Introductions were made all around. Joe Darda was the male winner of the club scholarship. He received congratulations from Eric and the committee members and there were pictures taken of all.

Jeff Hemp was present a spokesperson for the Moxee Hop Festival run. He wanted some input from the club. Jeff has stepped up as race director. It will be run Saturday August 6^th. The shirts have been donated, Jeff will secure sponsors and insurance is covered. Ron Urlacher and Pat Miller volunteered to help.

The minutes of the last meeting were accepted as posted on the web site.

Treasurer’s report: We had a deficit for the month of about $1725.00 mostly due to buying a new lap top computer. We did make about $195.00 profit on the Clear Lake runs. An accountant has been lined up to handle our tax return. It is still unclear at this time if we do indeed have 301-c tax status.

Membership: No new members for the month. Total membership stands at 205.

Newsletter: Tony brought the July newsletters to the meeting to be labeled. After the meeting we sorted and pasted and they were ready to be mailed. July running reminders are a work in progress. The web site has been updated as of July 5^th.

Club runs: There was a good turnout at the "ice cream run" from the soda fountain at the museum. It was deemed a great success and may be repeated again this summer. Check the calendar for that and all future runs.

New business: Lorrie updated us on what she has done on the Sun City runs and what help she needed. The Valley of the Sun Tri-athelon was discussed. Ron volunteered to take the clock for the Gleed finish. Frank said that Terry Cliett wants to step down as Winter Race Series co-director. Frank is staying on but will need some help.

Old Business: Eric thanked all Clear Lake volunteers. Eric also pointed out that the YRCM is one of the marathons featured in the book, Fairbanks to Boston, 50 Great U.S. Marathons. Quite an honor!
