Minutes of the HCR Club Meeting

August 4th 2005

Yakima Athletic Club

Tony filling in for Eric called the meeting to order at 6:58 P.M. Members present: Tony Sagare, Kenn and Jean Zahn, Bill and Virginia Nicholson, Larry McCaw, Pat and Karen Miller, Bob and Lenore Dolphin, Audrey Urlacher, Lorrie Smith, Elizabeth Tutsch, Wiley Hurst, Frank Purdy , Jeff Hemp, Gaylon Gentry, Rick Becker, Jack and Janis Carlton.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and accepted.

Treasurerís report: Tony gave an abbreviated report as he did not have all of the paperwork. We are still solvent. The marathon account stands about the same as it did going into the last marathon. In other words we made a small profit.

Membership: Membership stands at 206

Newsletter: It is ready to be labled and mailed. The web-site has been updated. Kenn called for suggestions from anyone who wanted to see something different there. If you have an idea, call or email Kenn.

Club runs: Pat said the run at the Carltonís was a good hot one. We had a new runner there that may be joining the club. Coming up next is the Klosters pot luck run. Details are posted on the web site. The fun run quarterly give away will be a $100.00 gift certificate to Vaux Shoes.

At 7:14 World Champion Rick Becker joined the meeting. We quickly switched gears and Rick gave us a synopsis on his runs at the World Championships in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Hopefully the full story will be in the next newsletter.

Old Business: Pat Miller took it upon himself to start building a new clock stand. He swears it will be more attractive, lighter weight, more mobile and manageable than the old beast. Cost will be about $250.00.

Jeff filled us in on the Hop Festival run plans. Everything is pretty well set. Lenore volunteered to lend her professional services at the finish line.

Gaylon had some information on the Gray Rock ("mother of all runs") 50k run. The entry forms are out. The West Valley fire dept. will be patrolling most of the course. Bill and Virginia volunteered to help. A small field is expected for the inaugural run.

Lenore said the first meeting for the next YRCM will be Sept. 20th. We already have our first entrant. She talked a little about the From Fairbank to Boston, 50 Great U.S. Marathons book and had some copies for sale.

Lorrie said Sun City Plans are moving along. Tony will secure the County permit. Lorrie is looking for volunteers.

New Business: Print Mail, the company that prints our newsletter has been sold but Tony is going to work on getting us a good deal with the new owners. Tony also thought that we should nominate Rick Becker for the Master Athlete of the Year Award. Everyone was in agreement on that one.

Meeting adjourned, 8:17 P.M. Jack Carlton
