Barry James to Receive Livestrong Award

Once again, Barry James, HCR President, is participting in the Portland Livestrong Challenge. This year he's doing the 10 mile bike ride with his 9-year-old son, Aaron. His wife, Sarah, and four other family members are doing the 5k run. This is an especially meaningful event for the James family as Barry's cancer has returned.

At each Livestrong Challenge, one Livestrong Award is presented to an individual who has displayed resilience, inspiration, public awareness, and commitment in the fight against cancer. Barry has been selected as this year’s Portland Livestrong Award recipient! He will receive the award on Sunday, June 29th at the Post-Challenge party from Lance Armstrong himself. To say his family is proud of Barry is quite an understatement.

Camille Rimmer and Mary Riehl (Yakima friends and Hard Core runners), and Sarah nominated Barry for the award, and quotes were also included from friends Bob Maurus, Megan Schneider, Cindye Sablatura, Sandy Jennings, Crystal Caffrey, Karen Atterberry, and Elizabeth Tutsch.

Congratulations Barry! Good luck at the Challenge on June 29th.
