Leavenworth Half Marathon Report

Carrie and I have been so busy lately we haven't had a chance to give narrative on our Leavenworth Half Marathon, Oct 1.

IT WAS A GREAT EXPERIENCE and really hard! As you remember, it was my first competitive run of any distance and Carrie had not run a race in a long time.

The course shifted between flat and slightly hilly to one tough climb up to the trail head of Snow Lake. It was beautiful, the leaves were changing colors and the course ran along the Wenatchee River on a dirt trail and through paved country roads.

The best part was Carrie and I beat our time goal by 9 minutes! We finished in 2 hours 1 minute. Overall we placed 93 and 94 out of 208 total and I, amazingly enough, placed 2nd in my age group! Carrie finished a bit lower, but that was due to her staying with the old lady (me).

(Thanks Carrie Brumbaugh and Crystal Towne for the write up of your great race. Pat Miller passed this on to me to post to the web site. kz)
