Terrace Heights Elementary School Parking Lot

 

To Get There:

From North/South 1st Street and Yakima Avenue -  

Proceed east on Yakima Avenue.  Cross over the freeway and the road becomes Terrace Heights Drive.

Continue east until you get to 41st Street.  Turn left onto it at the traffic light.

Go north, the school will be on your right and turn right at the next intersection.  Go east and turn right onto Maple Way at the next intersection.  (note – the end of Maple Way is a cul-de-sac.)

Park in one of the parking stalls on the east side of Terrace Heights Elementary School.

From the parking lot of the school, face south and run out the end of the cul-de-sac and cross over onto Terrace Heights Drive. (Do NOT turn left going up Roza Drive.)

Follow Terrace Heights Drive upward and round the crest of the hill, turn right onto Country Club Drive.

Follow Country Club Drive to the south.  Note that you are in the golf course area.

Run by the club house, on your right and the putting greens on your left.

The road will split, go to the left onto Beacon Road.  This is a loop road.

The road bears right up a hill.  Turn right at the stop sign and follow the road back by the golf course area.

At the stop sign, turn left onto Terrace Heights Drive for about .1 mile and cross to the right side.

Turn right onto Hillcrest. Follow Hillcrest.  Cross Roza Hill Drive, continue on Hillcrest for another .4 miles.

Turn left onto Maple and back to the school-starting area.

 

4.15 miles of ‘undulating hills’.  (Click here to see the map)

This is the race course of the Frosty Four Miler which is held the first Saturday of February.

From the parking area near the school, face north and start up Maple. 

At the stop sign bear right and continue up the hill going across the canal bridge.

At the stop sign, turn left onto Hillcrest.  Follow it to the west as it curves and drops down across the another Roza canal bridge.

Just after crossing the canal, take a hard right onto Mt. View.

Follow Mt. View west to the stop sign at the T intersection.  Turn right onto Commonwealth.

Follow Commonwealth to the stop sign at the next T intersection and turn right onto 33rd Street.

Run north for one block and turn left onto Butterfield.

Follow Butterfield as it curves to the right and left and starts downhill.

Watch for Cascade loop road and turn left onto it.  It will go uphill for a few yards and curve left.

Follow it through the stop sign back onto Butterfield.

Turn right onto 33rd, turn left onto Commonwealth.

This time, follow Commonwealth along the canal.  (do not turn onto Mt. View)

Commonwealth will end at a T intersection – Stop sign.

Turn left onto 41st Street.  Follow 41st northward and upward as it becomes Hillcrest. 

Follow Hillcrest and turn right onto Maple and finish where you started at the school.

(just to let you know, the course record is 20:14, a 4:56 minute per mile pace.)

From the parking lot of the school, face south and run out the end of the cul-de-sac and cross over onto Terrace Heights Drive. (Do not turn left going up Roza Drive.)

Follow Terrace Heights Drive upward and round the crest of the hill.  As you continue eastward, the road curves several times.  Be aware that the shoulders are narrow in places.

Follow Terrace Heights Drive east and continue straight onto Bittner Road.  (Terrace Heights Drive road turns right and crosses the canal.  Do NOT turn right.)

Continuing east on Bittner Road, turn right at the T intersection/stop sign.

Bittner is going south, will curve 90 degrees to the left and at the top of the grade, turn left onto Warrior Road.

Enjoy the north bound running of the ‘little hills’ for one mile.

At the T intersection/stop sign, turn left onto Roza Hill Road.

Follow Roza all the way back to the school.
