The Hard Core Runners Club proudly announces Alyssa Powers and Chris Ramirez as the recipients of the HCR's Club 2006 scholarships.
Each applicant was asked to: 1. write a short essay on "What Does Running Mean To Me", 2. Explain their need of the scholarship including information about their academic & athletic accomplishments, academic, athletic & career goals and financial needs and 3. "If You Receive This Scholarship, What Will You Return To Our Running Club?".
Each must be planning to attend or be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university with the intent to compete as a distance runner on the track & field or cross-country team.
Alyssa Powers is a senior at Golendale High School and will be attending Corban College in Salem, Oregon where she has been recruited to run cross country.
Chris Ramirez a Davis High School graduate, is a student at Pacific Lutheran University running on the cross-country and track & field teams.
Each will receive $500 to be applied toward tution and fees or books with the completion of the fall 2006 and/or spring 2007 distance running seasons.

Each has been invited to attend the June HCR's Club business meeting on June 1st. A brief awards ceremony will be held with beverages and foods for all to enjoy.
